Stäubli MC4 Evo 2 Solar Connector Pair - 4mm² & 6mm²

The Stäubli MC4 Evo 2 Connector Pair provides a genuine high current solar connection for 4mm² and 6mm² photovoltaic cable.

Rated to 1500V DC, the Evo 2 design supports up to 53A with 6mm² cable under IEC requirements, making it particularly useful for larger solar arrays and installations where higher current capacity is required without stepping up to 10mm² cabling. The pair includes one matching socket and plug connector for a complete MC4 Evo 2 cable connection.

Made for 4mm² and 6mm² Solar Cable

This /6II version suits 4mm² and 6mm² photovoltaic conductors with a cable outer diameter between 6.4 and 8.4mm.

With 4mm² cable it is rated to 45A under IEC 62852, increasing to 53A with 6mm² cable. Under UL 6703, the corresponding ratings are 35A with 12 AWG and 50A with 10 AWG.

The connector uses a 5.8mm crimp opening, so correct cable preparation and appropriate crimp tooling are important to achieving a reliable connection.

MULTILAM Contact Technology

Stäubli’s MULTILAM contact system maintains consistent contact pressure between the mating surfaces.

Maximum contact resistance is less than 0.2mΩ, helping minimise voltage drop and heat generation through the connection. This becomes particularly important as solar array current increases.

For a touring or off grid installation, good quality terminations are just as important as selecting the correct cable size.

1500V MC4 Evo 2 System

The MC4 Evo 2 is rated to 1500V DC under IEC, UL and JET requirements.

That voltage capacity is far beyond what is normally required in a 12V, 24V or 48V touring system, but the same connector technology is used across larger residential and commercial photovoltaic installations.

For smaller mobile systems, the more relevant benefit is the higher current capability and robust connection design.

Made for Exposed Installations

When correctly assembled and mated, the MC4 Evo 2 carries IP65 and IP68 ingress protection.

The connector operates across an ambient temperature range from minus 40°C to plus 85°C and is tested for salt mist and ammonia exposure, making it suitable for coastal, marine, agricultural and exposed solar installations.

Installation

The contacts are crimp terminated and should be assembled using suitable tooling for the conductor size being used.

Always confirm the cable conductor size and outer diameter before assembly. Matching the correct connector, cable and crimp is essential to maintaining the electrical and environmental ratings of the finished connection.

Where possible, keep mating connector components within the same genuine Stäubli system rather than mixing visually similar connectors from different manufacturers.
