For higher current solar installations, the quality of the connection matters just as much as the cable running between them. The Stäubli MC4 Evo 2 10mm² Connector Pair is designed specifically for 10mm² solar cable, providing a genuine Stäubli connection for larger photovoltaic arrays and higher current off grid systems. Rated to 1500V DC and up to 69A with 10mm² cable under IEC requirements, it provides substantially more current capacity than smaller MC4 connector sizes. The pair includes the matching plug and socket required to terminate one positive or negative solar connection.

Made for 10mm² Solar Cable

This /10II version is designed for 10mm² cable with an outer diameter between 6.4 and 8.4mm. That makes it particularly useful where larger cable has been selected to reduce voltage drop over longer solar cable runs or to handle higher array currents.

The crimp contact has a 6.5mm opening and should be terminated using correctly sized tooling to achieve the electrical and mechanical performance the connector is designed for.

MULTILAM Contact Technology

Inside the connector is Stäubli's MULTILAM contact system. This maintains consistent electrical contact between the mating surfaces and provides a contact resistance of no more than 0.2mΩ. Keeping resistance low helps minimise voltage loss and heat generation through the connection, which becomes increasingly important as solar array current increases.

Made for Exposed Solar Installations

When correctly assembled and mated, the MC4 Evo 2 carries IP65 and IP68 ingress protection. The connector system is also UV resistant and tested for salt mist and ammonia exposure, making it suitable for installations on caravans, 4WDs, marine systems, residential arrays and other exposed solar applications. Its operating temperature range extends from minus 40°C to 85°C, with an upper limiting temperature of 115°C under IEC requirements.

Genuine Stäubli Connections Matter

Connectors that look physically similar are not necessarily electrically or mechanically compatible.

Using genuine Stäubli components throughout the connection helps maintain the intended contact pressure, sealing and electrical performance of the MC4 system. Mixing connectors from different manufacturers should be avoided unless the combination has been specifically approved for use together. Correct cable preparation and crimping are just as important as using the correct connector.
