Product details
A snatch block gives you more options when a straight winch pull is not the best way to recover a vehicle. The Saber Super Light Snatch Block can be used to redirect a winch line, improve the angle of a recovery or form part of a double line pull. Its compact design gives you the flexibility of a traditional snatch block without carrying one of the large, heavy units commonly found in older recovery kits.
Two pulley options are available. The Polymer model is designed specifically for synthetic winch rope and carries a 17,000kg minimum breaking strength, while the Steel model steps up to a 24,000kg minimum breaking strength for heavier recovery setups.
Choose Your Pulley
The Polymer version uses 7075 aluminium side plates with a POM engineering polymer pulley wheel. Its smooth running surface is designed around synthetic winch rope and a correctly rated soft shackle, keeping the complete recovery setup light and simple. The Steel version uses a steel pulley wheel and increases the minimum breaking strength to 24,000kg. It is the higher rated option for heavier recovery systems where additional capacity is required.
More Options When Rigging a Recovery
A snatch block can be used to change the direction of the winch line when a straight pull is not possible or when the available anchor point is poorly positioned.
It can also be used as part of a double line pull. This can reduce the load placed on the winch, although the actual mechanical advantage depends on the recovery angle, anchor position and friction within the system. It should not be assumed that adding a snatch block automatically doubles the capacity of the winch.
Designed for Soft Shackle Connections
The Super Light Snatch Block is designed to be connected using an appropriately rated soft shackle rather than relying on additional steel recovery hardware. This keeps the setup lighter and makes it easier to pack into a touring recovery kit while still allowing the block to be positioned where it is needed.
Polymer Model and Synthetic Rope
The Polymer variant is designed specifically for synthetic winch rope. Steel winch cable should not be used with the polymer pulley, as the pulley surface and construction are intended around synthetic rope. If you are running a synthetic winch setup and want to keep recovery gear weight down, the Polymer version is the natural choice.
Steel Model for Higher Capacity
The Steel version increases the minimum breaking strength from 17,000kg to 24,000kg. It retains the compact Super Light format while providing a higher rated pulley option for heavier recovery systems.
Important Recovery Note
Minimum breaking strength is the destructive breaking rating of the product. It is not a working load limit or safe working load. Before every recovery, inspect the block, pulley, side plates, winch line, soft shackle and vehicle recovery points. Every component in the system needs to be suitable for the expected load and the recovery being performed.
