Saber 8K Kinetic Recovery Kit - 8,200kg Rope + 12K Soft Shackles

The Saber 8K Kinetic Recovery Kit brings together the core equipment needed for a controlled kinetic recovery in most mid weight 4WDs and dual cab utes.

The kit combines a 9 metre, 8,200kg kinetic recovery rope with two 12,000kg SaberPro soft shackles with protective sheaths, along with a clear top recovery gear bag to keep everything together in the vehicle. It is well suited to common touring vehicles such as the Toyota Hilux and Prado, Ford Ranger, Isuzu D MAX and similar 4WDs when the recovery equipment is appropriately matched to the loaded vehicle weights involved.

8,200kg Kinetic Recovery Rope

At the centre of the kit is Saber’s 9 metre kinetic recovery rope with an 8,200kg minimum breaking strength. The rope is manufactured from Nylon 66, allowing it to stretch and absorb energy during a recovery before progressively transferring that energy to the stuck vehicle. This creates a smoother pull than a low stretch connection and helps reduce sudden shock loading through the vehicles and recovery points.

Saber rates the current 8K rope for up to approximately 30% stretch under load. An outer treatment helps protect the rope from UV exposure, moisture, dirt and sand, while the recovery eyes use a soft vinyl polymer coating for additional protection in high wear areas.

Twin 12,000kg Sheathed Soft Shackles

Two SaberPro soft shackles are included, each with a 12,000kg minimum breaking strength. Unlike a standard exposed soft shackle, these versions include an abrasion resistant protective sheath around the shackle to provide additional protection from rubbing and contact during a recovery.

They offer a lightweight alternative to traditional steel shackles when connecting to suitable rated recovery points and compatible recovery equipment. As with any soft shackle, the connection point should be smooth, correctly rated and free from sharp edges that could damage the synthetic fibres.

Clear Top Recovery Gear Bag

A large clear top canvas recovery bag is included to keep the rope and shackles together and easily accessible. The clear lid makes it easier to see what is inside without unpacking the bag, while the larger size also leaves room for additional recovery equipment as your setup grows.

Sized for Mid Weight 4WDs

Kinetic recovery equipment works best when it is matched to the vehicles involved rather than simply choosing the highest possible breaking strength. The 8K rope is a good all round option for many common dual cab utes and mid size touring 4WDs. An excessively heavy rope may not stretch sufficiently when used with a much lighter vehicle, while an undersized rope can be overloaded. Always consider the actual loaded vehicle weights when selecting recovery equipment.

Important Recovery Note

Always use properly rated vehicle recovery points and recovery equipment appropriate to the vehicles involved. Never connect kinetic recovery equipment to a tow ball, transport tie down point or other unrated attachment point. Inspect the rope, shackles and recovery points for damage before every recovery.
