Product details

The Saber 22K Kinetic Recovery Rope is built for seriously heavy recovery work, including expedition trucks, Unimogs, service vehicles, commercial off road vehicles and other large rigs well beyond the weight of a typical recreational 4WD.

With a 22,000kg minimum breaking strength and 9 metre length, it sits at the heavy end of Saber’s kinetic recovery range and is intended for vehicles around the 7.3 to 11 tonne range when correctly matched to the loaded vehicle weight.

During a kinetic recovery, the Nylon 66 rope stretches under load and stores energy before progressively transferring it to the stuck vehicle. This provides a smoother recovery than a static connection while reducing the abrupt shock transferred through the vehicles and recovery equipment.

Built for Heavy Vehicles

The 22K rope is not simply a stronger alternative for an ordinary 4WD. Kinetic ropes need to be matched to vehicle weight so they can stretch and absorb energy as intended. Saber recommends selecting a rope with a minimum breaking strength around two to three times the loaded weight of the lighter vehicle involved in the recovery. For the 22K rope, that places it firmly in the extreme heavy vehicle category, including large expedition rigs, commercial off road vehicles and machinery.

22,000kg Minimum Breaking Strength

The rope uses heavy duty Nylon 66 construction to provide the combination of strength and elasticity required for kinetic recovery. At 22,000kg minimum breaking strength, it provides significantly more capacity than Saber’s 12K and 16K ropes and is intended for situations where the vehicle mass genuinely warrants the additional rating.

Protected for Off Road Conditions

Saber applies an outer treatment to the rope to help protect it against UV exposure, moisture, dirt and sand. The recovery eyes also use a soft vinyl polymer coating to provide additional protection around the areas most likely to contact soft shackles and other compatible recovery equipment. As with any synthetic recovery gear, the rope should be inspected before and after use for cuts, excessive abrasion, contamination or other damage.

Australian Designed and Tested

Saber recovery products are designed and tested in Australia. Each batch of rated Saber recovery equipment is tested to destruction through a NATA accredited laboratory, providing verification of the rated strength rather than relying solely on theoretical material figures.

Carry Bag Included

A hard wearing washable carry bag is included with the rope. Mesh sections at each end allow ventilation and make it easier to clean and dry the rope after muddy, sandy or wet recoveries.

What’s Included

1 × Saber 9m 22,000kg Kinetic Recovery Rope
1 × Washable Carry Bag

Important Recovery Note

Always use properly rated recovery points and recovery equipment suitable for the vehicles involved. The kinetic rope should be sized around the loaded weight of the lighter vehicle in the recovery. An unnecessarily oversized rope may not stretch effectively, while an undersized rope may be overloaded. Tow balls and unrated transport tie down points should never be used for kinetic vehicle recovery.
