Product details
For heavier 4WD recovery setups, the Saber 18K Soft Shackle gives you serious recovery capacity without the weight and bulk of traditional steel hardware. Manufactured from SaberPro fibre with an 18,000kg minimum breaking strength, it combines high-strength synthetic construction with an abrasion-resistant protective sheath around the working section of the shackle. This added layer helps protect the load-bearing fibres from everyday wear where the shackle contacts compatible recovery equipment. At just 250g, it's an easy addition to a touring recovery kit where strength matters but unnecessary weight doesn't.
Key Features
- 18,000kg minimum breaking strength
- SaberPro fibre construction
- Abrasion-resistant protective sheath
- High abrasion and impact resistance
- Lightweight construction
- Compact alternative to traditional steel shackles
- Suitable for appropriately rated 4WD recovery applications
- Also suitable for marine and agricultural applications within its rated capacity
- Designed and tested in Australia
- Saber rated recovery products are batch tested to destruction through a NATA-accredited laboratory
Heavy-Duty Recovery Without Heavy Hardware
An 18,000kg minimum breaking strength puts this shackle firmly into heavy-duty 4WD recovery territory, but the complete shackle weighs only 250g. That makes it substantially easier to carry, store and handle than comparable steel recovery hardware, particularly when you're trying to keep a touring setup organised and payload under control. Its flexible construction also makes it easier to feed through suitable recovery points, recovery rings and other compatible equipment.
SaberPro Fibre
The shackle is manufactured from Saber's proprietary SaberPro fibre, combining high tensile strength with resistance to abrasion and impact. Synthetic construction also means there's no steel shackle body to rust or corrode after exposure to mud, sand or wet recovery conditions.
Protective Sheath
The working section of the shackle is covered by an abrasion-resistant protective sheath. This provides an additional barrier between the load-bearing fibres and the recovery equipment they're wrapped around, helping reduce wear during regular use. The sheath adds protection, but it doesn't make the shackle suitable for sharp or damaged recovery points. Always use suitably rated equipment with a smooth contact surface and appropriate bend radius.
Easy to Inspect and Maintain
Synthetic recovery equipment should be inspected regularly. Before and after use, check the shackle and protective sheath for:
- Cuts or damaged fibres
- Excessive abrasion
- Heat damage
- Contamination with grit or debris
- Damage to the protective sheath
After muddy or sandy recoveries, clean the shackle as required and allow it to dry thoroughly before returning it to storage.
Great For
- Kinetic recovery connections
- Winch recovery setups
- Recovery rings
- Compatible recovery hitches
- Appropriately radiused recovery points
- Heavy 4WD touring recovery kits
- Marine and agricultural applications within the rated capacity
Always ensure every component in the recovery system is appropriately rated for the recovery being performed.
