Saber 16K Kinetic 9 Metre Recovery Rope - 16,000kg MBS

The Saber 16K Kinetic Recovery Rope is made for very heavy 4WDs, expedition builds and light trucks where the loads involved sit well beyond a typical recreational touring vehicle. At 9 metres long with a 16,000kg minimum breaking strength, it is intended for vehicles around the 5.3 to 8.0 tonne range when correctly matched to the loaded vehicle weight.

During a kinetic recovery, the rope stretches under load and stores energy before progressively transferring it to the stuck vehicle. This creates a smoother pull than a low stretch connection and helps reduce abrupt shock loading through the vehicles and recovery points.

Made for Very Heavy 4WDs and Light Trucks

Correct rope sizing becomes increasingly important as vehicle weight increases. Saber recommends choosing a kinetic rope with a minimum breaking strength around two to three times the loaded weight of the lighter vehicle involved in the recovery. Its current sizing guide places the 16,000kg to 18,000kg rope class with very heavy 4WDs and light trucks in roughly the 5.3 to 8.0 tonne range.

This makes the 16K a more appropriate option for expedition vehicles, commercial 4WDs and other genuinely heavy setups rather than simply choosing it as an oversized rope for a conventional touring vehicle.

16,000kg Minimum Breaking Strength

The rope uses heavy duty Nylon 66 construction, giving it the elasticity required to absorb and progressively transfer energy during a kinetic recovery. Saber also applies an outer treatment designed to help protect the rope against UV exposure, moisture, dirt and sand, making it better suited to the environments where recovery equipment is normally used.

Protected Recovery Eyes

The recovery eyes use a soft vinyl polymer coating to add protection around the areas that regularly contact soft shackles and other compatible recovery equipment. This helps reduce everyday wear while keeping the eyes flexible and easy to handle. The rope should still be inspected before and after each recovery for cuts, abrasion, contamination or other damage. 

Carry Bag Included

A hard wearing washable carry bag is supplied with the rope. Mesh sections at each end allow ventilation and make the rope easier to clean and dry after muddy, wet or sandy recoveries.

Important Recovery Note

Always use properly rated recovery points and equipment appropriate to the vehicles involved. The kinetic rope should be selected around the loaded weight of the lighter vehicle in the recovery. An unnecessarily oversized rope may not stretch as intended, while an undersized rope can be overloaded. Tow balls and unrated vehicle tie down points should never be used for kinetic recovery.
