Saber 12K Kinetic 9 Metre Recovery Rope - 12,500kg MBS

The Saber 12K Kinetic Recovery Rope is designed for larger 4WDs and heavier touring builds where an 8K rope may no longer be appropriately matched to the vehicle.

With a 12,500kg minimum breaking strength and 9 metre length, it suits vehicles in the heavier LandCruiser and Patrol class, particularly loaded touring builds and vehicles with GVM upgrades.

During a kinetic recovery, the rope stretches under load and stores energy before progressively transferring it to the stuck vehicle. This creates a smoother recovery than a low stretch connection and reduces the sudden shock transmitted through the vehicles and recovery points.

Made for Heavy 4WDs

Correct rope sizing is an important part of a kinetic recovery.

Saber recommends choosing a rope with a minimum breaking strength around two to three times the loaded weight of the lighter vehicle involved in the recovery. For the 12,500kg rope, Saber places the typical vehicle range at approximately 4 to 6 tonnes.

This makes it a good fit for heavier touring vehicles such as loaded LandCruiser 200 and 300 Series, Patrols, GVM upgraded 79 Series and similar builds.

Choosing a rope that is unnecessarily oversized can reduce the amount of useful stretch available during the recovery, so the biggest rope is not automatically the best option.

Up to Approximately 30% Stretch

The Nylon 66 construction allows the rope to stretch by up to approximately 30% under load.

That controlled stretch absorbs energy from the recovery vehicle before progressively transferring it to the stuck vehicle, helping create a smoother pull than a traditional low stretch tow connection.

The actual amount of stretch depends on the load being applied and how closely the rope is matched to the vehicles involved.

Nylon 66 Construction

Saber uses heavy duty Nylon 66 with an outer treatment designed to help protect the rope from UV exposure, moisture, dirt and sand.

The recovery eyes also feature a soft vinyl polymer coating, providing additional protection around the areas that regularly contact soft shackles and other compatible recovery equipment.

As with any synthetic recovery equipment, the rope should still be inspected before and after use for cuts, excessive abrasion, contamination or other damage.

Carry Bag Included

A hard wearing washable carry bag is included with the rope.

Mesh sections at each end provide ventilation and make it easier to store the rope after use, particularly following muddy, wet or sandy recoveries.

Important Recovery Note

Always use properly rated vehicle recovery points and recovery equipment. The kinetic rope should be selected around the loaded weight of the lighter vehicle involved in the recovery. Tow balls, transport tie down points and other unrated attachment points should never be used for a kinetic vehicle recovery.
