Product details
This 4.6mm High Bond Acrylic Foam Tape provides a strong, cushioned bond while creating a substantially thicker bond line than conventional double-sided mounting tapes.
Sunman has recently advised that our 4.6mm High Bond tape is their preferred mounting method for its new panels. We're currently developing an updated installation guide around this recommendation to make installation as straightforward as possible.
Supplied in a 12mm wide × 8.25m roll, the tape is also suitable for automotive, caravan, RV, marine, signage and general bonding applications where a strong, thicker acrylic foam bond is required.

Flexible Solar Panel Installation
Flexible solar panels present a different mounting challenge to conventional framed panels. You need a secure bond while accounting for the characteristics of both the panel backing and the surface underneath.
The substantial 4.6mm acrylic foam layer provides a thicker, more cushioned bond line than conventional thin double-sided tapes, while the viscoelastic acrylic foam helps distribute stress across the bonded area.
Sunman has recently updated its preferred mounting method for its new panels and has advised that our 4.6mm High Bond tape is their preferred tape for installation. We're currently working on an updated installation guide to reflect this recommendation.
Always follow the current installation requirements for your specific solar panel and mounting surface.
Strong Acrylic Foam Bond
The tape uses an acrylic adhesive with a grey acrylic foam carrier, providing a strong bond without requiring visible mechanical fixings in applications where adhesive mounting is appropriate.
Under the stated test conditions, it achieves 180° peel adhesion of at least 4,500 gf/25mm on stainless steel and dynamic shear strength of at least 5,300 gf/cm² following 24 hours at room temperature.
Actual bond performance will depend on the mounting surface, preparation, installation pressure and environmental conditions.
Made for High-Temperature Applications
Solar panels, vehicle roofs and caravan surfaces can become extremely hot when exposed to the Australian sun, making temperature resistance an important consideration when choosing an adhesive.
The tape is rated for short-term temperature exposure up to 160°C and long-term exposure up to 120°C under the manufacturer's specified test conditions.
Not Just for Solar
The 4.6mm High Bond Tape can also be used for a range of suitable applications, including:
- Automotive trim and accessories
- Caravans and RVs
- Marine applications
- Nameplates, badges and signage
- Electronics assembly
- Cushioning protectors
- General fabrication and industrial applications
Surface Preparation Matters
For maximum bond performance, apply the tape between 0°C and 35°C. Surfaces must be clean, dry and free from dust, grease, wax, polish, silicone and other contaminants.
Clean the bonding surfaces with isopropyl alcohol and allow them to dry completely before installation. Avoid touching the exposed adhesive and apply firm, even pressure across the entire bond area.
Allow at least 24 hours at approximately 23°C for the adhesive to develop the stated level of performance.
Check Compatibility Before Installation
Different solar panels, vehicle roofs, caravan skins and mounting surfaces use different materials and coatings, which can affect adhesive performance.
Always confirm compatibility with your particular panel and substrate before installation and follow the panel manufacturer's current installation requirements. Where possible, test adhesion on a small section or offcut first.
Storage
Store in a clean, dry and well-ventilated environment, preferably between 10°C and 30°C. Minimum shelf life is six months when stored under the recommended conditions.
