The 2.3mm High Bond Acrylic Foam Tape provides a strong, conformable bond for flexible solar, automotive, caravan, marine and general mounting applications where a lower-profile acrylic foam tape is required.

With a 2.3mm grey acrylic foam carrier and high-strength acrylic adhesive, the tape conforms to suitable prepared surfaces while helping distribute stress across the bonded area. The 12mm wide × 16.5m roll provides plenty of material for longer installations or multiple smaller jobs.

For flexible solar installations, always follow the current mounting requirements for your particular panel. For new Sunman flexible solar panels, Sunman has advised that our thicker 4.6mm High Bond Tape is their preferred mounting method.

Flexible Solar Panel Installation

The 2.3mm High Bond Tape can be used for selected flexible solar panel installations where a lower-profile adhesive mounting system is appropriate.

Its acrylic foam construction creates a consistent 2.3mm bond line while providing conformability between the solar panel and mounting surface.

Always check the installation requirements for your specific panel before selecting an adhesive. Different flexible solar panels can have different requirements depending on their construction, backing material and intended installation method.

For the new Sunman flexible solar panel range, Sunman has advised that our 4.6mm High Bond Tape is the preferred mounting method.

Strong Acrylic Foam Bond

The tape uses a grey acrylic foam carrier with acrylic adhesive to provide a strong, viscoelastic bond across suitable prepared surfaces.

Under the manufacturer's stated test conditions, the tape achieves 180° peel adhesion of at least 4,500 gf/25mm on stainless steel and dynamic shear strength of at least 5,300 gf/cm² after 24 hours at room temperature.

Actual adhesion will depend on the substrate, surface preparation, installation pressure and environmental conditions.

Made for High-Temperature Applications

Vehicle roofs, caravans, boats and solar installations can experience considerable heat during Australian conditions.

The tape is rated for short-term temperature exposure up to 160°C and long-term exposure up to 120°C under the manufacturer's specified test conditions.

This makes it suitable for a range of demanding bonding applications where both adhesion and temperature resistance are important.

Surface Preparation Matters

For maximum bond performance, apply the tape between 0°C and 35°C.

Surfaces must be clean, dry and free from dust, grease, wax, polish, silicone and other contaminants. Clean the bonding surfaces with isopropyl alcohol and allow them to dry completely before applying the tape.

Avoid touching the exposed adhesive and apply firm, even pressure across the entire bond area to achieve good surface contact.

Allow at least 24 hours at approximately 23°C for the adhesive to develop the manufacturer's stated level of performance.

Check Compatibility Before Installation

Adhesion can vary considerably between different surfaces, coatings and materials. Always confirm compatibility with the intended substrate and follow the manufacturer's installation requirements for the product being mounted.

For flexible solar installations in particular, check the solar panel manufacturer's current instructions before installation. Some panels and mounting surfaces may require a different tape thickness, adhesive, primer, sealant or mounting method.

Storage

Store the tape in a clean, dry and well-ventilated environment, preferably between 10°C and 30°C.

When stored under the recommended conditions, the minimum shelf life is six months.
